Taxtech joined regulators, pension operators, employers, payment solution providers, and other stakeholders on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Victoria Crown Plaza, 292B Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, to celebrate the first anniversary of the Pension Contribution Remittance System (PCRS) and Payment Solution Service Provider (PSSP) Framework.

The anniversary marked one year since the introduction of the framework, highlighting the progress made in modernizing pension contribution remittance in Nigeria through collaboration, technology, and innovation.

Speaking at the event on behalf of the Director General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Mr. Michael Popoola, Director of Information and Communication Technology, noted that the progress recorded since the implementation of the PCRS demonstrates the value of collaboration among regulators, pension operators, employers, technology providers, payment partners, and other stakeholders. He also stressed the importance of sustained innovation, stronger cybersecurity measures, data protection, data integrity, and operational efficiency as the pension industry continues its digital transformation journey.

His remarks reinforce the growing role of technology in enabling organizations to automate critical business processes while ensuring the security and integrity of sensitive information. As employers increasingly adopt digital systems to manage payroll and statutory obligations, reliable automation has become essential for improving accuracy, reducing manual errors, and supporting timely pension remittances.

The industry’s renewed focus on automation and operational efficiency also highlights the relevance of solutions such as THR, Taxtech’s Human Resource Management System. Designed to simplify human resource and payroll management, THR includes a Pension Management feature that automates pension calculations during payroll processing, maintains accurate employee records, and generates structured pension reports to support seamless contribution remittance. Such capabilities align with the broader industry objective of improving efficiency, strengthening compliance, and enhancing service delivery through technology.

Also speaking at the event, President of the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), Donald Onuoha, acknowledged the measurable progress recorded within the first year of PCRS. While commending PenCom and industry stakeholders for the successful implementation of the framework, he noted that challenges such as settlement failures, delays in fund transfers, incorrect payment details, and inconsistencies in contribution schedules remain areas requiring continuous improvement. His remarks further underscored the importance of automation and standardized digital processes in reducing operational bottlenecks across the pension value chain.

Similarly, Chief Executive Officer of PenOp, Anthonia Ifeanyi Okoro, described the anniversary as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the PCRS, recognize the contributions of key stakeholders, reflect on lessons from the first year, and strengthen collaboration for the future of Nigeria’s pension industry.

As the pension ecosystem continues to evolve, discussions at the anniversary reinforced a common message: sustained collaboration, secure technology, and process automation will remain central to building a more transparent, efficient, and resilient pension administration system. Through solutions that automate business processes and safeguard critical data, technology providers such as Taxtech will continue to play an important role in supporting employers and contributing to the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s pension industry.
